There is always something awe inspiring to see a large reservoir as it holds back huge volumes of water. Literally, life giving water for millions of people to drink, to wash and sustain their lives.
Yet, it is easy to take our water supply for granted. We just turn the tap and crystal-clear water is available for our use. To me, God’s goodness can be like that as he daily cares for us. Yet it’s good to remember that there is a vast supply of his love.
When God’s people were travelling in a desert wilderness they received water. As Moses struck a rock, life-giving water began to flow. We now understand that whilst it was real water the rock referred to was none other than Jesus Christ. Now we can come to him if we are in need, and water will be freely given to us.
As Christian believers we can easily forget that Jesus is in fact God’s reservoir. There is limitless water available for every need. The extent of God’s love is vast, measureless in fact! Jesus is the release point for the Holy Spirit to flow into the situations of our lives. We need to see the potential of the reservoir and ask. It will be like water that flows over dry land… things will happen!
