It is spiritually refreshing to remember that when we came to Jesus, we actually received his life.! We can search for truth and even read the Bible… but to not come to him is to still be without life. It was our coming to him that transformed us. It was that person-to-person encounter which made the difference.

I recall my own searching for God as a young man. No doubt my experience was similar to most of us. Somehow, I thought the answers to life’s mysteries would jump out of a book, even a religious book. I knew there was an answer, but I could not find it. Finally I discovered that the solution to my search was found in a person. To know that truth was a person, that the way and the life was also a person. So simple, everything embodied in a person… the LordJesus Christ!

Perhaps a little theology will clarify things. The Bible talks about two Adams, the first Adam was when God created man to be a living being. Without the power of Christ in our lives we are of the earth. Yes, we have a spirit and we live in a body but we are mortal. Mankind is unique but we are simply living beings.

But there is a second or last Adam as well. His Name is Jesus, and he is a life- giving spirit. This is the difference; He is not of the earth but is the man from heaven. When we received Christ we were forgiven but a dramatic impartingf of divine life also took place. His life started flowing in us from that iinstant!

Of course there is the future aspect of a resurrection when our bodies will be changed. But our spirit is already alive because of Christ who is the LIFE.
