Continuing in Christ!

I’m reminded of the Marathon race in the Olympic Games… it is long, but still important for each competitor to finish and enter the Stadium. Our Christian lives can be likened to a marathon; a race which is long and demands our total commitment to hang in there. It is so important to CONTINUE IN CHRIST.

It all began when we reived Christ into our life. That was a dynamic time of new beginnings, it was a decisive moment when we broke with the past and began a new life. Our new relationship with God was exciting as we found the joy of being forgiven, the load of sin and guilt removed from our conscience. But more than this, we found ourselves in that incredible NOW relationship with Jesus.

Reflecting on my own Christian life I acknowledge that there are many times when that ‘marathon’ journey seems so long. I guess we could liken it to a type of spiritual tiredness, when we feel we haven’t the strength to keep going. Yet in the natural realm our bodies also get tired, and how important it is to get a good night’s sleep. We feel so fresh in the morning ready to take on the day.

Understanding this principle of renewing our body, we can apply it to our spiritual lives too. It will maintain our Christian faith as we daily find rest, and fresh strength in Christ There is actually a Bible verse which talks about waiting upon God and finding that new supply of energy to keep going day by day.

Jesus was our LIFE at the beginning, and He is available to continue being our LIFE. It is all about continuing to live in Him! In a sense we can receive Him with each new day, committing it to Him, and we will find the strength to continue.
