D’ont let the Fire go out!

There’s nothing worse than a fire that has gone out; just grey ash, charred wood, and maybe some lukewarm coals. The chance of the fire coming back to life is remote, short of a fresh start with kindling and paper… and the house is cold!

When John the Baptist spoke about the Baptism with the Holy Spirit, he referred to it as a baptism with the Holy Ghost and Fire. When we talk of the Holy Spirit, fire is never excluded… it is part of God’s nature. It was tongues of fire that alighted on the waiting disciples on the Day of Pentecost.

When we receive the Gift of the Holy Spirit it is the breath of God given to us by the Lord Jesus. This gift results in believers being able to talk in tongues, also known as the glossolalia. But what is sometimes overlooked is the fact that God had kindled a fire within us, the dynamic energy of the Holy Spirit.

Consider for a moment that point of ignition in a car engine when it bursts into life providing power. Or the blast of rockets on launch pads enabling space craft to break free of the earth’s orbit and travel to destinations in the solar system.

A Spirit filled life can be the norm, so maintain the fire and go places in God!
