Have you ever patiently waited for your public transport to arrive? It can often seem an eternity as you wait for a bus to arrive. It may be on time but even half an hour can seem an age, but then you see it in the distance… it’s coming!
In our Christian lives there can often be times of waiting for God’s scheduled events to happen in our lives. There could be a prayer request we have made and it seems God has not answered. But it will happen, the difference is that it will happen according to God’s timetable… and that requires patience.
When we think of the return of Christ and the resurrection of our body there is that nagging question… how long will we have to wait? The actual time that Jesus returns is in God’s timetable… but rest assured it will happen and we will be changed.
We do not have to doubt Jesus returning for us individually because his resurrection is proof that our sin is forgiven. So let us be waiting for his return which will not be to bear sin for that is already done. Jesus will be arriving for our eternal salvation.
This is our hope… that whether we have died or are still alive when Jesus returns, we will be changed. We will be raised up with a body that doesn’t decay… resurrection time will have arrived!
