Marksmanship!

To be a good shooter you must be consistently accurate. Be it pistol or rifle shooting there are principles for achieving success. The shooter must be well balanced, also keeping the body still, breathing correctly, and with a trigger action that is smooth.

I recall my father teaching me firearm safety and shooting as a youngster. Like, never climb through a fence with a loaded rifle in your hand. But what sticks in my mind was an incident that happened when we were our shooting rabbits.
As we walked through a paddock with lots of tussocks my father stopped and said, “there’s a rabbit”. Now, I couldn’t see any rabbit, just a tussock of grass! Then he said, “can you see the eye?”. So, I looked again at the mass of grass in which the rabbit was perfectly camouflaged. As I looked harder, I noticed what looked like shiny brown glass… nothing else, it was the eye of the rabbit!

Believe it or not, there is a connection here with prayer. We do a lot of praying in our Christian lives, and maybe it’s a sort of hit and miss type of praying… like we are not getting through!

The Bible encourages us to be specific in prayer. Succes in life so often depends on us focusing on those things we need to do. Prayer is no different… we need to be specific about what we want and then focus on the target! Ref. Mark 11:24 NIV.
