There is a hymn titled… ‘Power in the Blood’ which we would sing in church but not fully understanding what we were singing about. Yes, we knew we were singing about the precious Blood of the Lamb… blood that cleanses us from sin. With enthusiasm we would sing, “There is power, power, Wonder working power in the Precious blood of the Lamb’ (Author: Lewis E Jones 1899)

But what makes that blood so powerful? Because Jesus was conceived of the Holy Spirit in the womb of the Virgin Mary. We also understand medically that his blood was kept separate… he was indeed the holy one, born of God, (Luke 1:35).

The blood that flowed in the body of Jesus was indeed special, like no other! It was and is of God; its power is consequently, always available to cleanse us from sin, (1 John 1:7).

When Jesus hung on that wooden cross, he was cursed and under the sentence of death for mankind’s sinful condition. That body impaled on the cross was our substitute, (Isaiah 53:6).

There is… POWER IN THE BLOOD OF THE LAMB!
